ladies in the house;;
“Is not your fear of God your confidence, and the integrity of your ways your hope?”// Job 4:6
as i’m sure you’ve all figured out at this point, i’m dating my best guy friend.
people tell me often how lucky I am for that fact.
…it’s true. I’m am so stinkin’ lucky.
however, I think people forget that that fact doesn’t make the relationship “easy”.
“you can just be yourself, there’s no pretending!”
and although this “being yourself” stuff is true(i’m totally ok with eating large amounts of YoLo in front of him ;)) …..
there should’t be pretending ANYWHERE.
I have insecurities just like every other girl I’ve known that’s been in a relationship, but when you’re friends first it seems you lean more towards thoughts like…”Oh no, he liked us better as friends…I was a better friend than girl friend!”
So ladies, you are not alone when suffering from insecurity surrounding relationships in your life. No matter how random, or different, or secluded, or WHATEVER the situation is, I can guarantee there is someone else who’s been there, dealt with that. If I didn’t have people in my own life to remind me of that, I would have gone insane by now. So just in case no one HAS told you…Here it is.
Things don’t have to feel perfect all the time. In fact, they’re not going to.
I usually remind myself of these things:
1. Confidence is found in the founder of your relationship(no matter it be friendship, romantic,etc), the Creator of your heart. He holds it, and therefore as insecurities sink in….truth can be found at the roots.
1a. A lot of times, insecurity in a worldly relationship hints at insecurity in your relationship with God…to find confidence in our worldly relationships, we need to find confidence first with our Father.
2. Speaking lies aloud helps you realize how ridiculous they really are, and if it doesn’t, then you need to speak them aloud to a friend who can tell you bluntly and honestly how ridiculous they are.
3. Satan wants you to pretend insecurities don’t exist so he can’t plant more seeds in the field of LIES! This sounds dramatic but I went so long thinking I had to be so perfect and had to fix everything myself that by the time I figured out that those things aren’t true, it would affect me until..well, it’s still affecting me! Seek truth!
Friends, there is so much TRUTH found in Christ. And that means there is truth for you.
This has been on my heart lately, and I really felt the need to share. Even posting it, I feel like perhaps it’s not necessary…but I KNOW there are girls whose hearts are similar to mine and so I post this hoping that one of them reads it.
